Studio Photography Incubator Project

The Studio Photography Incubator Project is a collaboration between the Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) and the Art Department at Northwestern Connecticut Community College (NCCC). Students from NCCC's Digital Imaging class will work with the professional artists of FVAC to document their work and to gain valuable insight from them.

For the months of October and November, FVAC has donated a space for NCCC students to set up a professional shooting studio. Students and artists will team up to document artwork and products. The practicing artists of FVAC will mentor students in the ways of acknowledged studio techniques for artwork photography. Students will edit images for both print and online presentations.

The Studio Photography Incubator Project is designed to give students real world experiences that build resumes, grow skills sets, and create networking opportunities with local artists as the students prepare to enter the work force. The studio artists at FVAC will receive professional level photographic images of artwork, which can be used to continue to build their art practices and portfolios.
The Farmington Valley Arts Center is enriching lives through art. It is dedicated to cultivating a community where people can create, learn, exhibit, exchange ideas and inspire each other. It welcomes and supports participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds on their personal artistic journey. FVAC is located at 25 Arts Center Lane, Avon, CT. The mission of Northwestern Connecticut Community College is to inspire learning through accessible, high quality education. NCCC is devoted to enriching lives by meeting individual and community needs in a supportive environment, while facilitating access to lifelong learning opportunities and is located in Winsted, CT.
