Artist Statement
It's important for me to create art that is well-drawn and composed, happy, beautiful and colorful. Sometimes, it is whimsical. Always, it is about joy.

Susan Prentice is a representational artist. Her stylized work reflects her background in graphic design and illustration. Her palette is an emotional representation of her current state of being. Colors are cool when serenity is the goal and warm when joy is overflowing. Oil paint on canvas allows the slow build-up of layers for intense color and vivid detail. The work is precise, deliberate and painstaking. She is inspired by the beauty of the world and the variety found in wild and domesticated creatures.
