The Introspective Boy
The male adolescent identity explored and challenged through the Visual Arts.
Avon Old Farms School celebrates the unique creativity and productivity of the teenage boy with a special exhibit of sculpture, photographs, drawings and paintings at the Farmington Valley Art Center’s Drezner Visitors’ Gallery. Work submitted will be juried by a special panel of local artists and arts professors including: Diana Delucia, author and food photographer; Jeremy Chandler, Assistant Professor Photography at Southern Connecticut State University; Peter Zallinger, Associate Professor of Drawing and Painting at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts; Rick Harden, Professor of Fine Arts at Manchester Community College.
The exhibit will be open from April 29 – May 15, Tuesdays through Saturdays 10am – 4pm, or by appointment.
A reception open to the public will be held on Friday May 6 from 6-8pm, at which time awards will be presented by the jury panel to selected works.
There will be an additional reception on May 7 from 10:30-12pm, hosted by some of the participating student artists, coinciding with the FVAC Saturday Open Studios.
