As many found object artists will tell you, the materials drive the work. The chair has been a running theme through Sue’s work since 1999 where it appeared on her first website. After being gifted a box of wooden parts Sue saw she could make sets of chairs with what she had. Her work often walks the line between art and product; this exhibits plays to her toy-like aesthetic and whimsical open storytelling. The chair becomes a stand-in for the mundane dramas of everyday life.
