Throwing Large Forms

Tuition: $150 Non-Members / $135 Members includes $10 for glazes and firing
Materials fee for 25 lbs of clay payable to the instructor or with registration: $25
Level: Intermediate (minimum Age: 16)
LIMITED TO 4 STUDENTS! In this intermediate-level throwing class, students will learn different techniques for creating large vessels on the wheel. Instructor Drew Darley will teach centering and throwing large amounts of clay, stacking multiple forms together on and off the wheel, coiling on the wheel, and more.

• Potter’s starter kit (they can be found at a Michael’s or any art and craft store)
• Medium size bucket
• Large sponge for clean-up
• Two large towels
Students should come prepared with nails cut and dress appropriately (meaning you’re going to get dirty).
About the Instructors
Drew Darley is a full-time potter who focuses almost exclusively on wheel-thrown vessels putting a strong emphasis on a clean refined form. Drew enjoys glaze chemistry and the science behind mixing and formulating his own glazes. His current focus is on crystalline glazes. While in college Drew studied ceramics and mathematics. He found connections between the two disciplines in regards to glaze calculation and form which allows him to constantly to push the materials to the limit. Visit Drew's website.
