Wheel Throwing Thursday

Instructor 6:30 PM: Drew Darley from Round Trip Clayworks
Tuition: $310 Non-Members / $280 Members includes $10 for glazes and firing
Materials fee for 25 lbs of clay payable to instructor or with registration: $25
Minimum Age: 16
LIMITED TO 4 STUDENTS! Learn a variety of wheel throwing techniques to make both functional and decorative pieces. Beginner students will learn the fundamentals of throwing and working with clay on the wheel. More experienced students will be challenged with learning to throw more complex forms and vessels. Decorating, altering, and finishing techniques will also be taught.

• Potter’s starter kit (they can be found at a Michael’s or any art and craft store)
• Medium size bucket
• Large sponge for clean-up
• Two large towels
Students should come prepared with nails cut and dress appropriately (meaning you’re going to get dirty).
About the Instructors
Pedro Centeno is the owner of the Junkpot Studio, located at FVAC studio 5A. Pedro and his wife Naomi create work that is inspired by their love of vintage and industrial design. Pedro loves to build and make forms, while Naomi loves to draw and paint. Visit Pedro's website.
Drew Darley is a full-time potter who focuses almost exclusively on wheel-thrown vessels putting a strong emphasis on a clean refined form. Drew enjoys glaze chemistry and the science behind mixing and formulating his own glazes. His current focus is on crystalline glazes. While in college Drew studied ceramics and mathematics. He found connections between the two disciplines in regards to glaze calculation and form which allows him to constantly to push the materials to the limit. Visit Drew's website.
