Class Description

Explore the world of monotypes using water-based paints, crayons, and pencils! You’ll create unique images on plastic plates and print them onto dampened paper using a press. Once dried, you’ll have the option to further enhance your prints with collage materials, transforming each piece into a one-of-a-kind artwork.


Materials
- Watercolor paints in tubes
- Water soluble markers, crayons & pencils
- Brushes
- Palette
- Watercolor paper or heavyweight print paper (any size)
- Paper Towels
- Reference images if desired
(Melissa provides the plastic plates in the first class and will explain how to use commercial plastic cutting boards for printing.)


About the Instructor

Melissa Meredith is a professional printmaker/painter with a studio at the Farmington Valley Art Center in Avon, CT. She is represented in both private and corporate collections. She has exhibited extensively throughout the U.S. She has an MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lives in Bloomfield, CT. She is also an avid gardener and botanist with the title Master Gardener to her name.
