50th Anniversary Appeal
The Farmington Valley Arts Center is delighted to announce the 50th anniversary of connecting our community to the creative process by making, learning, exhibiting and appreciating art. This milestone marks the passage of time that tells the rich history of our organization; from a cutting-edge safety fuse factory in the mid-1800’s, to a visionary developer’s plan of establishing an Arts Center in Avon, CT in the 1970’s, to where we are now. Oh, the stories these red stone buildings could tell!
As we reflect on our journey, we are reminded of the many people who have supported our mission of “enriching lives through art”; artists, instructors, students, Board and staff members, visitors, and more. Without the community cheering us on from near and far, we would not have survived the myriad of challenges that have come our way and celebrated the amazing accomplishments that we have enjoyed.
However, as a nonprofit organization, our programs and classes cover some, but not all, of the running costs to maintain and improve our historic buildings. To do that, we need your support! Your donation will help us continue to grow our offerings, so we can stand strong as a cultural hub in the Farmington Valley and make our dreams a reality.
With appreciation,
Helen Thomas, Board President
Carol Kaplan, Executive Director

OUR SUPPORTERS
The Farmington Valley Arts Center is "enriching lives through art". We are dedicated to cultivating a community where people can create, learn, exhibit, exchange ideas and inspire each other. We welcome and support participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds on their personal artistic journey.
Established as a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) in 1974, the Farmington Valley Arts Center is housed in the historic red sandstone buildings of the former Climax Fuse Factory in Avon, CT. We've been connecting the community to the creative process for 50 years through our educational programs, gallery exhibits, special events, and the unique opportunity to engage with our professional studio artists.
This important milestone marks the passage of time that tells the rich history of our organization; from a cutting-edge fuse factory in the mid-1800’s, to the visionary idea in 1974 of establishing an Arts Center in Avon, CT, to a thriving community of artists and art appreciators in 2024.
