Class Description

In this class, students will engage in projects that invite them to deepen their understanding of their senses and how those connect to, inspire, and influence their creativity. Each class session will have a focus on enjoyment of the creative process, rather than a specific design outcome. Students will be presented with a variety of traditional and non-traditional art materials, and given the freedom to simply create what feels best to them that day. Throughout the class, they will be informally asked to notice and reflect on what they see, feel and hear.

About the Instructor

Taylor Burton graduated from University of Saint Joseph’s with a Masters in the Art of Teaching, and holds an early childhood and special education teaching license. Taylor has worked in public school systems throughout Connecticut with children from ages 2 - 10. Her teaching style incorporates the Reggio Emilia philosophy as well as the Multiple Intelligences theory. In Taylor’s classroom students guide their own interest based learning, are invited to socialize and freely engage with peers, encouraged to get messy, allowed to break all the (art) rules, and most importantly have FUN!
