Class Description

This class will focus on creating three-dimensional projects through process art and exploration. Students will be introduced to the ways that three-dimensional design can be found in the real world, along with a brief explanation of architectural structures. Each week, students will be given a set of open-ended materials, a sturdy platform,
and time to explore and construct. Students can bring their structure home, or they may choose to leave it in the studio to revisit the following week. Sample prompts could include: "create something tall", "create something you’d like to live in", or "create a building of the future."

About the Instructor

Taylor Burton graduated from University of Saint Joseph’s with a Masters in the Art of Teaching, and holds an early childhood and special education teaching license. Taylor has worked in public school systems throughout Connecticut with children from ages 2 - 10. Her teaching style incorporates the Reggio Emilia philosophy as well as the Multiple Intelligences theory. In Taylor’s classroom students guide their own interest based learning, are invited to socialize and freely engage with peers, encouraged to get messy, allowed to break all the (art) rules, and most importantly have FUN!
