Class Description

Have you ever wanted to help produce a literary journal or anthology? Here's your chance! Learn the whole process, from how to conceptualize your publication; how to generate and evaluate pieces as a team; and how to format, distribute, and promote your end result. Learn by doing: throughout the duration of this class we will conceive and produce a literary journal or anthology, with the students ultimately making every major decision.

Materials
Students should bring a charged laptop and a flash drive if at all possible. Instructor will discuss publishing costs and the group can decide how far they want to take it.

About the Instructor

Daniel Loring Keating has served as an editor on three different literary publications, all of which are sadly defunct. He helped launch the Chester College of New England student annual SO Good and served as an editor at Compass Rose Magazine and Eleven Eleven. He's had a whole bevy of important-sounding titles, including Event Planner, Webmaster, International Editor, Publisher Liaison, and Managing Editor. He also consulted on the launch of UC Berkeley Extension's journal, Ursa Minor, and is a writer himself.
