Summer Teen Art Afternoons 2025
Welcome to Farmington Valley Arts Center's Summer Teen Art Afternoons Program. Teen artists will explore the arts more deeply with the guidance of professional artists.
Recommended age: 12-16+ (Digital Art: 13+)
Tuition includes all materials: $225, Ceramics $300, Household Members save 10%
CERAMICS: WHEEL & HANDBUILDING ADVENTURE

Come experience the rewarding process of working with clay and creating unique pieces! Learn the fundamentals like hand-building techniques of pinch, coil, and slab. Then have a seat at the potter's wheel and explore a variety of wheel throwing practices.

INK IT UP: PRINTMAKING EXTRAVAGNAZA

From traditional methods like linocuts and collagraphs to innovative approaches such as monoprinting and stamping, artists will experiment with various tools, materials, and printing surfaces to bring their visions to life.

MIXED MEDIA EXPLORATIONS IN 2D & 3D

July 21-25, 2025
Put your design skills to the test in a fun environment learning a variety of art-making skills. Students will work with different media like paper, glass, textiles, plaster, paints, found objects to create their own handmade artwork.

INTRO TO DIGITAL ART

Learn how to use digital programs to draw, paint, and create cartoons, comics, and mixed media art. You'll get hands-on demos, tips, and tricks to keep creating long after class ends.
A drawing tablet, touchscreen device, or computer with stylus support is highly recommended, though not required. Students should have at least one digital drawing program installed - Photoshop and Clip Studio are both strong options, but there are also excellent free alternatives like Krita and Sketchbook, or Procreate.

Materials:
- A computer or tablet with the capacity to download a drawing program
- A touchscreen tablet or computer (recommended)
- A digital stylus or combination drawing tablet and stylus (recommended)
