Class Description

LIMITED TO 4 STUDENTS! Come experience the rewarding process of working with clay and creating unique pieces! Learn the fundamentals of throwing on the potter's wheel and a variety of techniques to make both functional and decorative pieces.

A materials fee of $25 for 25 pounds of clay is payable to the instructor or with registration. Glazes and a firing fee are included in the tuition.

Note: We cannot offer open studio hours for teen wheel students.

• Potter’s starter kit (they can be found at a Michael’s or any art and craft store)
• Medium size bucket
• Large sponge for clean-up
• Two large towels

Students should come prepared with nails cut and dress appropriately (meaning you’re going to get dirty).


About the Instructor

Stefanie Baechler graduated from CCSU with a bachelor's degree in art education and English as a Second Language. She is now teaching art to K-12 students at the Waterbury Public School. During her college years, Stefanie started instructing youth classes and art adventure programs at the Farmington Valley Arts Center and has been doing so ever since. She loves working with pen and ink, as well as clay and watercolor.
